Installation

Q. How long does it take to install?

An experienced installer can install in less than 30 minutes, but typically no more than 45 minutes.

 

Q. Will my system be inoperable during install?

In the vast majority of cases, there should be no system downtime.

Q. Do I need an electrician or plumber?

NO. The Mizzler is a plug and play system with very little skill required. The Mizzler does not connect to your home’s plumbing or electrical system. Everything operates on its self-supplied, 12V power source.

 

Q. Do I need a technician?

With the help of a couple of friends, the recycling tank can be installed within 5 minutes. Installing the other components is a breeze and can be done by yourself. Now that said, for the nominal additional cost (if any), we would recommend having your local technicians do the install for you, even if only for peace of mind. 

 

Q. Can The Mizzler be detrimental to my condenser life?

The opposite. Your condenser is already manufactured to weather the moisture elements. The Mizzler actually helps it to function more efficiently and keep it clean (especially in coastal salty environments), thus likely extending the life of your condenser, and it will almost certainly extend the life of the compressor.

 

Q. Will it work on my specific system?

The Mizzler will work on any brand and model of standard split system (condenser, with air handler in different locations/s) The residential or commercial 'packaged type systems' version does not presently have a recycling tank to recover water from underneath...but watch this space!

 

Q. Does the Mizzler require a lot of maintenance?

Not at all. Every so often, during your walk of pride around your home or business, take a look on the surface of the recycling tank to see if any leaves or debris gathered on the filters. Check the pump filter area to see if they need a quick rinse. If you live in a region that has a deep-freeze season, there is a drain out, weatherization process to survive the winter. Other than an annual maintenance clean, that’s about it.

Q. Can I use utility (sometimes known as Tap or City) water to top up or fill The Mizzler tank?

Yes, but only with the addition of The Mizzler utility water filtration system. Standard tap water contains chemicals that although are safe for human consumption, are harmful to the metals in the condenser coils. Long term usage of this type of water, without filtration,  will be detrimental to the lifespan of the coils.

 

Q. Will the cost of the water used by The Mizzler filtration system not off-set my energy savings?

Not at all. The most the filtration system will likely use in tropical climates would be in the region of 15-20 gallons a month. The average home uses between 2,000 & 3,000 gallons of water per month to run the home. 

 

Q. Can I manually top up the recycling tank?

Absolutely. Although you should only use 'clean water', such as spring, distilled, rainwater, or even waste water collected from a dehumidifier. Or install The Mizzler utility water filtration system.

Q. How much will this save me?

It depends on how much you run your system and how much you pay per kWh. A 35% improvement in efficiency doesn’t exactly equate to 35% off your cooling bill, but it gives you an idea. Just think about it is ribbiting. Consider these: In most cases, you don’t have to pay a pro to remove and/or add expensive refrigerant and additives.  The longevity of your equipment is increased by putting less wear on internal components, etc.  Since there is no cost to operate it, your individual ROI is as fast as can be.

 

Q. We don’t get a lot of rain around here, so will it work for me?

Yes, with the the addition of The Mizzler utility water filtration system. If you live in a region that cools less than 3 months a year, The Mizzler is probably isn’t right for you.

Q. How does the Mizzler get its power?

The Mizzler is wired directly from the low voltage 24v supply, at the condenser. 

 

Q. How does the Mizzler remove the heat from the water?

Firstly, the process creates a level of dissipation as the water hits the coils of the condensing unit, and also as, as air is drawn across the coils, heat is being absorbed and expelled away by the condenser’s fan.  This lost water is then replaced in most cases by condensate water (generally below 60°F) from the evaporator coil and/or rainwater, and the tank is designed to allow continuous overflow, allowing fresh water to be filtered in and existing water to drain out, e.g., during heavy precipitation periods. Additionally, the recycling tank is not insulated. Therefore, when the condenser is off, in the unlikely event that the water temp has risen above ambient air temperatures, the water has the opportunity to naturally cool. Finally, the ambient air sensor in the system’s logic control dictates the Mizzler’s operation, this is generally set to below night-time ambient air temperatures, and as such the water benefits from long periods of downtime on a daily basis, allowing it to cool and replenish water lost to dissipation.

Q. Will this void my systems warranty?

Absolutely not. Since the Mizzler does not integrate into any of your systems components or wiring, there is no reason your manufacturer’s warranty will be impacted.

 

Q. How long is the warranty period?

Upon registration, all elements of the system are warranted for a period of 5 years.

Warranties

Q. Won’t this make a muddy wet mess?

No. The water used is directed inward onto the condensing coil, it drips down and through the base filter into the recycling tank to be reused again. No waste. No swamp. No mess.

Q. Is it noisy when it’s running?

It is exceptionally quiet and would easily drowned out by the operating sound of your cooling unit itself. Even with your AC off, you would struggle to hear it running. 

​

Q. Can the Mizzler be installed on commercial systems?

Absolutely. All types of split, multi-split and ducted systems up to 6-tons, along with small footprint commercial refrigeration units. 

​

Q. How is the recycled water keep a fresh as possible? 

Firstly, the system will lose water to during operation to dissipation, this is replenished from waste condensate and rain water. The tank has an overflow and filtration facility, so when it reaches capacity the new water will enter the tank, with the existing water washing out. So in short, constant water replenishment.
