Q. How long does it take to install?
A. The typical length of install is between 1 & 2 hours.
Q. Do I need an electrician or plumber?
A. Not at all. The Mizzler is a plug and play system with very little skill required. The Mizzler does not connect to your home’s plumbing or electrical system. Everything operates on its self-supplied, 12V power source.
Q. Do I need an air conditioning technician?
A. The Mizzler can be installed by any competent person with the help of a couple of friends on installing the Recyling Pan only (This part should take no more the 5mins). The rest is a breeze on your own. Now all that said, for the nominal additional cost involved, we would recommend having your local AC guys do the install for you, even if only for peace of mind.
Q. Can The Mizzler be detrimental to my condenser life?
A. Your condenser is already made to weather the elements. The Mizzler actually helps to keep it clean and better functioning and will likely extend the life of your condenser. It will certainly extend the life of the compressor.
Q. Will it work on my specific AC?
A. The Mizzler will work on any brand and model of standard split system (condenser and air handler in different locations) that use the common HFC, HCFC & HFO type refrigerants. The residential Mizzler version does not presently have a recycling pan to recover water from underneath packaged type systems.
Q. Does the Mizzler require a lot of maintenance?
A. Not at all. Every so often, during your walk of pride around your home, take a look in the recycling pan to see if leaves or debris has piled up. Check the filter/strainer area to see if they need a quick rinse off. If you live in a region that has a deep freeze season, there is a drain out, weatherization process to survive the winter. That’s about it.
Q. Can I use utility (sometimes known as Tap or City) water to top up or fill The Mizzler tank?
A. No. This type of water contains chemicals that although are safe for human consumption, are harmful to the metals in the condenser coils. Long term usage of this type of water on the coils will be detrimental to the lifespan of the coils.
Q. How much will this save me?
A. Although we can’t answer that definitively, it is far more (for far less) than just about any other after-market product out there today. It depends on how much you run your system and how much you pay per kWh. A 35% improvement in efficiency doesn’t exactly equate to 35% off your cooling bill, but it gives you an idea. Just thinking about it is ribbiting. Consider these: You don’t have to pay a pro to come out and remove and/or add expensive refrigerant and additives. The longevity of your equipment is increased by putting less wear on internal components, etc. Since there is no cost to operate it, your individual ROI is as fast as can be.
Q. We don’t get a lot of rain around here, so will it work for me?
A. Maybe, maybe not. If you live in a region that cools less than 4 months a year, and/or live in a very dry climate, it probably isn’t ideal. The Mizzler operates best when it doesn’t require water supplementation, I.E in humid and tropical environments. If you at least have humid conditions, the Mizzler can collect your condensate water and add it to your recycled water. If the Mizzler runs out, it will collect what it can until there is enough to begin operating again. If you live in a very dry climate, this cycle will take longer in between. See
Q. How does the Mizzler get its power?
A. The Mizzler comes with a 30-watt solar panel that charges a Lithium-Ion battery. The Mizzler is then 100% powered by the battery. The Mizzler does not have the ability to plug directly into an AC power source.
Q. Will this void my air conditioner's warranty?
A. Absolutely not. Since the Mizzler does not integrate into any of your air conditioner components or wiring, there is no reason your manufacturer’s warranty will be impacted.
Q. How long is the warranty period?
A. Upon registration, all elements of the system are warranted for a period of 5 years.
Q. Won’t this make a muddy wet mess?
A. As much as frogs do like mud, this frog is different. The water used is directed inward onto the condensing coil, it drips down and through the base, into the recycling pan. The water is then drawn up into the collection tank to be reused again. No waste. No swamp. No mess.
Q. Is it noisy when it’s running?
A. It is actually very quiet and would normally be drowned out by the operating sound of your AC unit itself.
